Sherwood Lumber Opens New Sales Office in Oregon
February 1st, 2012 - Sherwood Lumber has opened a new sales office in Medford, Oregon. The group is headed by industry veteran Bill Perkins and is staffed by Frank Peterson, Scott Eilefson, and Larry Rogers. Steve Parson will work in sales support. The group brings to Sherwood a customer base primarily in California and other western states. Sherwood is headquartered in Islandia, N.Y.

Florida LBM Panel Sees Tough Times Today, Little Improvement Ahead

A panel of Florida LBM experts described on Thursday a turbulent present and moribund future for the Sunshine State's construction supply industry. They decried price-slashing competitors, fretted over the economy, castigated the federal government, and predicted it could take anywhere from nine to 36 months before conditions in the state show marked improvement.
Former Quaboag Transfer Company Property in Palmer Auctioned for $2.6 Million

PALMER – The 66-acre former Quaboag Transfer Company property was sold Wednesday at auction for $2.6 million to the owner of a New York lumber company.
As a crowd of approximately 70 people watched, Paul W. Scheer, president of Aaron Posnik & Co. started the bidding at $1.5 million.
A representative of United Bank, which holds the mortgage, offered the first bid.
Sherwood Lumber Announces Purchase of Most of Bloch Lumber Assets
PORTLAND, OREGON, Jan. 4, 2010 (RISI) - In a letter dated December 31, 2009, Sherwood Lumber president, Andy Goodman, announced a subsidiary, Bloch Lumber Acquisition, LLC was the successful bidder of the assets of Bloch Lumber, including the rights to the name Bloch Lumber. Many of the employees from the original Bloch Lumber will be employed by the new company, according to the letter.
